Public Consultation on Proposed Police Force Mergers

The West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner has launched a public consultation on Government proposals to merge police forces across England and Wales. The proposals could see the existing 43 police forces reduced to just 12, which would be the biggest change to policing in more than six decades.

The consultation is open to all residents of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Worcestershire and runs from 16 March to 15 June 2026.

Residents can take part online or attend one of the in-person engagement events being held across the West Mercia area. Details of both can be found on the West Mercia PCC website.
