The Annual Parish Meeting is a meeting of the parish electors — not a meeting of the Parish Council. It is the occasion when the Parish Council reports to the community on its work over the past year, and when local voluntary organisations and community groups have the opportunity to present their own reports.
It is a separate meeting from the Annual Parish Council Meeting, which follows on the same evening. Everyone is welcome to attend the Annual Parish Meeting, and there is an Open Forum at the end where residents can raise questions or matters of concern.
The Annual Parish Meeting must be held between 1st March and 1st June each year and may not begin before 6:00pm (Local Government Act 1972, s.14).
